I decided to go ahead with the challenge of a moveable seat and arms
but obviously did not attempt to illustrate the piston mechanism for the model.
the gas spring in current office chairs would work I think, with the seat being
mounted on a track/roller assembly (I faked the roller idea too) to allow for a
horizontal to angle 'slide'. the pin/hole/shaft seat adjustment on weight lifting
equipment, although more clumsy, could also work.
this is my first attempt at creating something like this and I really enjoyed working
on the problems regarding materials and and proportions

the black chair drawing shows how one chair can transform into
many functions by pulling up or moving out different pieces
... but it is the same one chair in all four drawings...
only the movement of the different pieces changes it's function
... it is like a large dish... I am also trying out different types
of folding lights... japanese lanterns... lamps like folding shells
... beside the working man are folders that pull out from the
chair/dish wall beside him like accordions... his desk pulls up...
his seat back can be adjusted ... folding seats can be pulled out
from the sides for visitors or friends...
