exploring with minimal forms to facilitate contemporary living, the ‘box house’ is a private residence designed by 1:1 architetura:design, a project that experiments with a new way to occupy space with a simple volume. located in brasilia, the volume was born out of the concept of a pool house. in turn, this influenced the creation of the uncomplicated concrete box.

inside, 1:1 architetura:design organized the two bedrooms, bathroom, kitchen, dining and living all within 65 square meters. in spite of its minimal exterior, the architects decided to inject personality into the dwelling by mixing textures, colors, materials and eclectic furniture in the interior. a rusted frame wraps around one corner of the building to highlight the sliding glass windows and the stepped entrance into the home. the dwelling’s living spaces remain open to a secluded yet spacious garden that captures sunlight throughout the day.
