3LHD architects: house k

house k is a residential project in the mountains of zagreb by the croatian studio 3LHD architects. the home’s shape was inspired by the shape of a snail’s shell, spiraling around its won axis. this was translated into the structure by wrapping the home’s elements around a central atrium which is outfitted with a spiral staircase to provide access to a rooftop patio. the atrium also helps light the interior. the home’s interior was spread out over many hal-levels splitting the home into a gradually stepped plan, fitting more elements into the modest size of 600 m2. the façade is paneled in untreated teak and the interior is also wood clad, recalling the forest directly behind the home.

  • At least let’s have a top view to see the “shape of a snail’s shell” and the central atrium. Interior seems warm but we know nothing about its architecture.
