‘tangling’ the architecture foundation in SE1, london september 15, 2012-november 17, 2012

japanese architect akisa hirata of akihisa hirata architecture office has conceived ‘tangling’, a 1:1 structure to display his recent projects at the architecture foundation in SE1 at the london design festival. a continuous loop which has been twisted and contorted to fill the interior space, and form an experiential installation. hundreds of study models and sketches will be mounted upon the white strip as well as projections of a video interview and film clips. the collection will illustrate his view of architecture and ecology alongside form and function within a tangled snapshot.

curated by naomi shibata and the architecture foundation, this is the architect’s first solo exhibition. hirata will also participate in this year’s japanese pavilion at the 13th international architecture exhibition in venice.
