from birth, every human is organized through the hierarchical class system. without regard to personal characteristics in the least, each is donned with a label; lower, middle, or upper. society at large is innately regulated because by it, the rich do anything to remain at the top, the middle tries to overthrow the rich, and the poor just try to survive. modern times, though less brutal, is no less restrained by the unspoken rules of social division.

in a way, hotels can be considered a microcosm of the class system. an establishment quite plainly states is social significance with nothing more than a number, making it unattainable for some and much too low for others. armin senoner’s ‘semiotic alpine escape’ is a conceptual plan for a hotel able to accommodate all various needs of the low, middle, and high, within a single establishment.

luxury and comfort are obviously taken into account, as well as other physical parameters such as materiality, topographical location, and environmental conditions. height is given as a privilege, with the most expensive, exclusive views located at the peak. other functions have been included, such as retail locations, restaurants, and theaters — all of which directly reflect their location within.
