occupying a space within the historic royal exchange building in central london, biasol:design studio has completed a sleek espresso and cocktail bar aiming to invite and attract the sophisticated clientele of the area. the melbourne-based design studio took charge in the interior design and branding of the modest-sized scheme. cues from the building’s rich victorian history was taken to result in a minimalist space which focuses on detail and materiality, while respecting the location’s past.

marble and wood are the dominant materials inside the refined interior which is detailed with a herringbone is a pattern that has been used throughout. the wooden floorboards were restored and the same herringbone motif is employed in the carrara marble wall tiles. meanwhile, the marble counter features a brass foot rail and coat hooks. the project continues biasol:design studio‘s ongoing collaboration with the grind & co. company.
