the ‘ayanggichatgil’ project has converted a closed railroad bridge that was originally built in 1935 in dong-gu, daegu, south korea. local architects CA plan redesigned the structure, revitalizing it to include cultural service facilities, such as a meditation institute, observatory space, rest area and a museum. upgrading and preserving the historic monument resulted in economic activation for the community and helped contribute to local development. the improvement to water quality, environmental conservation and history-cultural preservation also supported public communication. the project fused civil, construction and material engineering, ensuring that the historical bridge was respected, while managing to preserve the environmental ecosystem and cultural support.
