it has recently been announced that acclaimed architect daniel libeskind will be designing the ‘vanke pavilion’ for the 2015 world expo in milan,the first pavilion solely by a corporate participant in the history of the expo. with an initial investment of 3 million euros, the leading chinesereal estate company china vanke co. ltd will recreate a traditional shitang concept space, an urban typology used throughout china’s history thatoffers a shared communal area and has reappeared in contemporary architecture in various forms.  it also aims to accomplish five strategic points:first, to bring a million chinese visitors to italy for the expo; second and third, to strengthen ties between china and italy and promote business and economic exchange; fourth and fifth include the promotion of the expo using the vanke company as a mediating platform between italianand chinese cultures.
