DCPP arquitectos has completed the interior design of a cycling club in mexico city. centrally located in the colonia juárez neighborhood, ‘distrito fijo’ is an organization that occupies a plot measuring just 85 square meters (915 square feet). as well as serving as a workshop and bike store, the scheme now also acts as a café that sells drinks and snacks throughout the day. these three programs exist side-by-side, complementing each other and encouraging new guests to frequent the shop alongside existing members of the cycling community.

the layout of the club has been designed to form a continuous route that connects the scheme’s three primary functions. a standing street-adjacent bar allows passersby to quickly refuel, while areas of internal seating are also provided for longer stays. from this area, stairs lead to the rear of the plan where further chairs are surrounded by exhibition areas and various items for sale.

lastly, a small service shop is positioned directly above the kitchen, contained within a concealable boxed volume. the bicycle theme remains apparent throughout the design, with a variety of two-wheelers on display. opening up onto the passing street, the club becomes an important part of the community, welcoming bike enthusiasts and coffee lovers alike.
