referencing outer-space, the ‘compressed time’ exhibition by DGT (dorell ghotmeh tane) is an installation at baselworld 2014 for watch company citizen. based on the idea that ‘the beginning of time is the beginning of light’, 33 771 metal watch plates are suspended from the ceiling, attached by 4 811 wires. featured in the center of these shimmering strands is citizen’s 2014 flagship model, ‘eco-drive satellite wave f100’, which is powered by light as it captures time signals sent from satellites orbiting in space. a symphony of illuminated reflections is created, evoking a sense of the unknown possibilities of light and time humankind has yet to experience.
