edward suzuki architects devised a fireproof and earthquake resistant 6-meter square grid of reinforced concrete. a glass panel of film with life-size japanese weeds screen ‘yoshizu’, was then sandwiched in between two panes of glass to render a touch of natural softness and warmth and offset the otherwise harsh and cold artificial material. internally, bamboo screens is a prominent theme seen throughout; adorned on the windows of every room, used as flooring to being overlaid to form patterns.

at the heart of the villa, transparent solar panels distribute an abundance of natural light and energy to the rest of the dwelling. the living room  boasts a two-story high voluptuous space fusing the upper story 3-dimensionally. the suspended lighting fixtures over the dining is clad with the same bamboo screens as those of the windows to add to the balinese aesthetic.
