elastic architects' renovation of the rinela beach resort highlights the picturesque aegean sea

situated on the picturesque greek island of crete, elastic architects was commissioned to revamp the outdoor pool and restaurant of the mitsis rinela beach resort & spa in kokkini chani. the unobstructed, panoramic sea view combined with the sun over the cretan landscape influenced the architect’s intricate design.

the shadows casted by the wicker pergola surrounding the restaurant amplify the natural materials chosen by elastic architects, and offer a constant transmutation of the space throughout the day. in continuity to the restaurant, the outdoor pool follows similar design ideas, highlighting the infinity views to the aegean sea. according to the architects, functionality and integration of the custom-made furniture to the landscape was of outmost importance to the brief.
