french architect emmanuelle moureaux has recently completed the set design and art direction for issey miyake‘s latest event ‘bloom bloom bloom’ for the isetan and mitsukoshi departments located in tokyo, japan. the interiors takes their form from spring flowers as they begin to flourish to coincide with miyake’s newest incarnation ‘bloom skin’, the first collection developed by one of their new designers yoshiyuki miyamae.

the tubular flowers, with their straight lines and contours are conceived as a contrast to the translucent designs of the soft, flowering pieces of the garments. each measuring 1.4 meters across, these vibrant and colorful florets are positioned as both three-dimensional sculptural pieces and two-dimensional graphic motifs, giving the overall impression of a stage ‘in bloom’.

moureaux designed the logos and outdoor signage for the department stores. the stick flower motifs are used in a series of limited edition t-shirts and packaging for accessories and products complementing the new image of issey miyake.
