clothing brand everlane has approached shoe shopping in a different way with their 10-day interactive concept store in soho, new york. realized in collaboration with robert storey of storeystudio, ‘shoe park’ manifested as an elevated playground, designed especially for customers to try, buy and play with everlane’s latest summer season collection.

the idea diminishes the need of sales people, allowing customers to freely explore, climb, walk and sit on the obstacles, all the while wearing their chosen pair of shoes.

‘we felt it was important to create a self-guided shop that allowed customers to control their own shopping journey and experience the shop how they would like. when you enter the space, you are greeted and asked to leave your shoes at the door. from there, you will enter the playground and be able to walk, sit and climb through all of our interactive installations.’ – everlane

materials including plywood, custom white peg board and mirrored aluminum were utilized by storey to create the six shoe structures erected to hold a full size run of the six different shoe styles. additionally, cork flooring provided a comfortable surface to walk on, while the interiors were finished with a color palette of soft yellows, blues and whites to further define the playful ambience of the self-guided shoe shop.
