volkswagen’s chattanooga facility was built according to the most sustainable practices by SSOE group, a global engineering, architectural and construction management firm. as a result, the U.S. green building council awarded the VW plant its highest level of leadership in energy and environmental design (LEED) certification. a 650-foot pedestrian bridge that connects the  volkswagen academy with the manufacturing facility, draws attention to the bridge’s elegant silhouette, while the lumenbeams  accent the anchor supports and the fixtures outline the contours of the overpass.

SSOE group’s lighting designer, aaron albright, wasn’t just determined to use led, he also wanted to illuminate the bridge in the company’s corporate color. ‘the choice was lumenpulse’s lumendome medium and lumenbeam large, with RGB capabilities to give us the punch that was needed to stand out on the landscape,’ explains albright. ‘we were able to fine-tune the setting to emit a color that matches the VW blue.” the fixtures can also be adjusted for other color variations during holidays and special events.
