foster and partners unveiled their bold design for ‘the one’ tower, set to be built on one bloor west, downtown toronto. the 80-storey mixed-use structure will be wrapped in a distinctive bronze exoskeleton featuring retail facilities that articulate around a 60-meter atrium at the base which is integrated with the city’s underground pedestrian ‘PATH’ network. two-storeys above street level, there will be an ‘urban room’ which would be protected from the weather and accessed by two express escalators. residential apartments with winter gardens will be at the higher levels. ‘the one’ will be addition to toronto’s panoramic skyline, and at 318 meters, it will be the city’s second tallest skyscaper after the CN tower.
