four seasons bahrain bay som architects designboom
the distinguished hotel chain four seasons has opened its doors in bahrain’s capital city manama. continuing its middle-eastern expansion, the hotel is designed by SOM, who is also involved in the bold masterplan of the whole district. the completion of four seasons bahrain bay is the first of many programs to be erected in the area. constructed in a radial organization, the wider vision is for all the other buildings to articulate around the private man-made island where the hotel is situated. the 68–storey hotel acts as a striking gateway to the fast evolving city, where guests arrive either by boat or by the bridge that is connected to the mainland. the two distinctive concrete towers support the 17 hotel floors at the core which all feature floor-to-ceiling windows. the north and south faced glazing allow guests to enjoy exceptional views of the surrounding landscape and manama’s skyline.
