two interlocking, rectangular volumes form the geometrical ‘breeze house’, a completed residential project by spanish firm fran silvestre arquitectos. located in castellón of the valencia region, the stark white dwelling is occupied by a couple who have decided to return home to the mediterranean.

a striking contrast between the blue sky and the white volume is created. fran silvestre approached the design by reinterpreting the classic villa typology seen from the last century with links to similar builds seen in the coastal area ‘breeze house’ is sited. the result is a modern villa coated with white coated MDF panels and plasterwork; the contemporary material palette is pared down to little decorative detailing. elements such as a similar latticework that constitute the fences, to having the porches elevated above the street level are some subtle nods to the local architecture. complemeting the architectural design is dekovent’s aluminum carpentry composed of minimalist OS sosoares.

the house is configured with two volumes that intersect and join into one entity. in this way the scale of the porch deflects direct sunlight and retains privacy, while maintaining a view of the garden. same as the exterior, the house inside is finished all in white. everything has been constructed to fit with the contemporary aesthetic portrayed throughout. on the back wall of the living room, the storage and entry is hidden from view and visualizes as one single, flush wall. a single door pushes open to reveal a staircase that leads up to the flat roof and terrace facing the nearby ocean.
