situated on a main shopping street in the spanish city of valencia, fran silvestre arquitectos has designed ‘vegamar seleccion wine shop’, a project which establishes a underground cellar environment set within an urban context. upon entering the store, the first area is used for product exhibition, where clearly defined shelving presents the vast selection of bottles. strips of lighting guide customers inside towards a tasting section at the rear. throughout the scheme, dark and reflective panels blur the spatial limits of the volume, while the material’s color echoes the hues of the wines on display. maximizing the confines of the store, the rear of the bar contains backlit furniture and a large mirror which further increases perceptions of space.
