‘sixtytons’ is an exercise in pragmatic architecture: the wooden shelter is designed to react to the changing needs of light, acoustic, private space and public space while respecting the functionality and dimension of the dwelling. resembling a watchtower or an outpost, the oak model circumscribes a perfect square with a solid, massive body wrapped in a skin of venetian blinds. for the design of the joints, techniques found in the katsura imperial villa were studied and reinterpreted.
