iida archiship studio has designed hanyo house, a slight, but smartly composed lakeside loft that stacks pared-down spaces vertically to maximize views. the home’s form draws from that of a lookout, while the gestalt of the architecture is an ultra-economical material palette. ample glazing is offset by the ubiquitous usage of oriented strand board (OSB), a composite material that imbues that space which a rich visual texture. exposed beams and columns are wrapped in translucent corrugated plastic panels, which serve to articulate the tower-like structure from the exterior. the modest space features an occupiable roof; a feature that elegantly elevates the basic cabin into a place that finds its resonance in the bucolic landscape.
