hefferlin + kronenberg architects has designed a dwelling for a doctor and his wife along tennessee’s tellico river. the project, entitled ‘tellico cabin’ features two steeply pitched roofs supported with heavy oak timber creating perfect isosceles triangles. internally, the ceilings lend the space a spiritual quality while also providing sleeping lofts for guest bedrooms. a skylit screened porch at the entry separates sleeping accommodation from the living areas.

the structure is clad in mountain stone and dark stained cedar, while the windows are bronze aluminum clad wood. reclaimed heart pine is used for for the flooring, while the landscaping was designed with plants and vegetation indigenous to the region.
