american architect, javier galindo of JGCH architecture has proposed a vacation home for a painter and his family that offers a variation on traditional courtyard typology. the site is located outside of greenport, long island, where the structure aims to create synchronicity between its static form, dynamic light and levels of privacy. different formations of a four sided courtyard are centripetally arranged to maximize privacy and daylight requirements during the course of the day.

the mass is assembled counterclockwise – beginning with studio and work zones, which are activated during the morning and transitioning to the afternoon functions such as dining and cooking, to end with living spaces that are most active at night. each of these separate programs are given a courtyard type in relation to the necessary light and privacy demands.
