in southern japan, kengo kuma and associates has completed a timber structure that forms part of the garden terrace nagasaki hotel. positioned at the western edge of the site, the ‘royal terrace building’ houses a number of exclusive suites, offering guests expansive views across the port of nagasaki. the complex also contains fine-dining facilities with restaurants and bars comfortably furnished to establish a warm and hospitable atmosphere. the wooden construction is capped with an angular metal roof, which allows the building to form its own distinctive identity as part of the hotel campus.
