developers land securities has announced that a brise soleil shading system will be fitted to rafael viñoly‘s 37-storey tower. the building was nicknamed the ‘walkie scorchie’ after reports emerged that the glare emanating from the tower’s glazed elevation was melting cars on the street below. consequently, engineers plan to fit horizontal light diffusing aluminum fins from the third floor on the building’s south facing façade, preventing solar glare. subject to planning approval, the refit should take around six months to complete.
