copenhagen-based architectural practice LETH & GORI has proposed ‘falkonergården gymnasium’, an extension to an existing recreational facility in copenhagen, denmark. the respectful addition attempts to turn the existing structure inside out, inverting the program to incorporate the outdoors. the central idea is to integrate the urban environment into the school and to project the school’s activities outwards to the city.

a series of programmatic and formal gestures result in a new separate building connected to the adjacent buildings with an enclosed box truss pedestrian bridge. the program contains classrooms, canteen and informal spaces for learning and social interaction in a four story high tower. the primary gymnasium is located below the tower and plaza for sports and larger community events.
