luciano kruk mr house designboom
situated on a dune on the bonaerense coast near buenos aires, argentinean architect luciano kruk has created a simple holiday home that respects the unique environmental conditions at the same time fully offering the necessary functions of a home. the design is centered around two elongated concrete boxes, turned perpendicular to one another and stacked offset forming an ‘L’ in plan that only touches the ground along two foundation walls and piers supporting the upper volume. large expanses of glass walls wrap the otherwise open spaces making the interior feel more like an exterior space, opening directly to the surrounding vegetation and enjoying all the natural sunlight. the third material present throughout the house is reflected in the rhythmic vertical wooden louvers that line the transparent facades of the home, providing proper shading without compromising the views or sense of openness. the form of the structure itself serves the dual purpose of minimizing contact with the site and forms canopies over outdoor patios, also signaling the main entrance. on a site measuring 20m by 50m, the ground level contains the social functions as well as a guest bedroom at one end of the home. stairs located at the intersection of the two forms lead up to the  more private bedrooms on the second level, enjoying greater views to the horizons.
