for his approach to the interior design of the ‘emmaroz‘ store, miklos kiss was influenced feminity, purity, and an original salon atmosphere. entering through the door, the customer is greeted by an imposing space. its center is demarcated by a monumental object, a staircase that leads to the gallery. the structure is similar to that of a a loom with a rhythmic pattern of interwoven pieces accentuating the forms of the walls and staircase. the vast chandelier has the same effect as it hangs above the reception desk with other parts of the space have been shapes in a classic manner.

a café corner provides a location where people can read quietly or talk in small groups. on the provence styled table, a plate that is traditionally used for cakes now displays colorful yarns that look like macaroons from the distance. this association is on purpose, as the connection between confectionery and fashion fits the brand’s subtle yet feminine aesthetic. magazines and books are making our waiting time much more pleasant with little architecture details like the drawers on the wall – functioning as bookcases. for children, a swing has been constructed, refering to how the company was named after the owner’s daughter.

the gallery floor houses a room where they adjust sizes of clothing, with a corresponding fitting room, yellow retro easy-chairs, and a shelf with the clients’ folders. the level underneath is occupied by the designer shop. miklos says, ’emmaroz produces several clothing items for fashion designers – so we decided that it should have a place where they can sell them too.’

towards the front, the store features a classical piano chair and sewing area as signs above the restrooms read ‘you are beautiful.’ this is one example of the graphic elements that have been integrated into the project. another instance is the logotype, a form that was created with contemporary typography in mind, and the silhouette of the daughter also appears in many place such as the prints and the online website.
