‘hangover’ is a temporary, auto-constructed, low-budget bar made for ignition, a music festival located in an old abandoned homestead in penafiel, portugal. the event motivated its participants to create self-built infrastructures and to tune them with nature. for the occasion, portuguese architect and artist nuno pimenta built the bar over an old pre-existing stone tank.

pimenta wanted the bar to be as light and transparent as possible, while simultaneously visible and festive. the old stone water tank was the perfect location and had the perfect proportions for the bar. despite its heaviness, all added elements seem to be hanging over the tank. it was assembled from pre-fabricated low-budget materials such as OSB panels, corrugated fiberglass sheets, and used steel-props.

the bar emerges as a discrete lighthouse over nature

nuno pimenta
to keep its openness and transparency it only closes its functional core with four tables that can be used outside
