david pedroza castañeda of p+0 arquitectura has designed and realized the ‘ipe house’ in monterrey, mexico, composed of interconnected indoor and outdoor spaces. the scheme divides the 12 meter wide site in half, and arranges a building volume on one side, while leaving the other open for a garden. sliding glass doors define the threshold between either area, allowing for maximum connectivity between interior and exterior spaces. the program is configured with the kitchen, living, and dining area on the main floor, and bedrooms above. an upper level solarium is placed above the outdoor dining area, and provides views of the striking mountain, cerro de la silla.

in response to the site’s topography, the garage is located below the main level, dug into the landscape. two exterior staircases connect the street level to the house’s living room and garden, respectively. from this floor, two more staircases, one indoor and the other outdoor, access the upper level.
