‘starck with riko‘ was born out of the desire to develop a series of industrially manufactured houses, tailored to meet the dwelling needs of people globally. a collaboration between philippe starck and riko (one of europe’s leading manufacturers of sustainable prefabricated wooden buildings), the result is P.A.T.H. (prefabricated accessible technological homes) offering a range of 34 models which allow one to design their own living space from the inside out. you can choose from various interior finishes and fixtures, from light fittings, floor finishes and bathroom tiles, to different façades and a range of roofing types to realize a truly customized home. first announced in october 2012, ‘starck with riko’ has now revealed renderings of the various housing typologies it will offer to the market.

all major building components of a P.A.T.H. structure–from external and internal walls, the ceiling and roof structure–are pre-fabricated in controlled production facilities, where the manufacturing process is protected from the effects of weather, allowing parts to be made all year round. the elements are created to the highest degree, including the exterior façade and frame, filled with insulation and finished with closing panels. this level of detailed pre-fabrication ultimately reduces the duration of the on-site assembly process considerably compared to traditional on-site building techniques. from start to finish it takes approximately two months to complet all required electrical and mechanical installations to equip your home with the fit-outs you have selected.

‘starck with riko’ offers a range of housing typologies which differ in size, number of rooms, multiple levels and layouts–a configurator lets one choose their preferred model, number of desired bedrooms, structure and roof type. each structure features floor-to ceiling aluminium-glass façades which allow an abundance of natural light to flood through the interiors, while at the same time, keeping thermal losses to a minimum. P.A.T.H. homes have been conceived to integrate smart green technology including photovoltaics, solar panels, heat pumps, wind turbines or rain water collectors–a palette of renewable energy producing equipment making it an environmentally friendly construction from production to completion. with wanting to develop a residence that is kind to nature, wood has been selected as the primary building material because it is a natural, renewable and recyclable resource, with a clean and energy saving lifecycle. its aesthetic also gives rise to a pleasant living environment and helps in maintaining an optimal indoor climate by balancing humidity in the air and absorbing harmful vapours, gases or unpleasant odors. all aspects of P.A.T.H.’s lifecycle have been conceived with efficient energy sources and sustainable construction materials in mind, taking into consideration today’s and the future’s environmental state, ultimately giving home owners the freedom to make their own individual sanctuary a reality.
