the ‘baltic palace’ is a four-star hotel located in the small, coastal resort town of pobierowo, poland. architects piotr michalewicz and mateusz tański completed the project collaboratively, creating a clear-cut building highly distinctive from surrounding structures. ‘baltic palace’ is constructed using glass as a primary element, and is formed to resemble the waves and dunes of an adjacently-located beach front.

thanks to the curved glass, the front of the hotel flows down and creates a borderless transition between the roof, façade, and entrance piazza. subdivisions on the surface correspond to the interior layout of rooms — a feature that is repeated on the rear (southern) face as well. end-walls are comparatively viewed as plain surfaces constructed using large granite slabs.

in total, the ‘baltic palace’ contains 40 rooms, four apartments, a restaurant and bar, nightclub, conference center, and wellness center/spa with two swimming pools and saunas. all interior design and decoration materials are a continuation of the broader concept. high quality, natural colors and textures draw from the surrounding natural environment. combined with the modern, minimal architecture, the ‘baltic palace’ becomes a coherent possibility for the future of the small, coastal area.
