porcelain cultural center renovation by tonghe shanzhiuse of local retaining walls with traditional form

the general principle of  the ‘cishangweiyang’ project by beijing-based tonghe shanzhi landscape designers references the importance of cultural inheritance, fully exploiting and demonstrating the historical and cultural values of porcelain and ancient kilns. by means of innovation in expression, the renovation highlights the elaborate details of the traditional ceramic art-form by changing the functions of the existing exterior environment, where interpretations of the manual workshops integrate the demands of new functional spaces. the ecological region absorbs the surrounding architectural elements, where local flora and fauna adapts to the growing population.
