MAD and 3XN vying to complete porsche design tower in frankfurt

six international architecture practices have been invited to submit proposals for the residential porsche design tower in central frankfurt. forming part of the city’s european quarter, the site is situated directly adjacent to the emser brücke girder bridge providing a direct link to boule­vard mitte, a district surrounded by parks and a variety of open public spaces.

initiated by P+M planen und bauen from sankt augustin, the tower block will offer residents expansive views across the city, providing panoramic vistas of the taunas mountain range.

 

the jury state that they are, ‘looking for ideas for an unusual, unmistakable appearance, with high quality vertical elements and exceptional internal planning’. 14 further contenders will be announced in due course, with the expert panel selecting the winner from a pool of 20 in early 2015.
