a single family ‘house in cala sardinera’ sits on top of two hillsides overlooking a crystal clear cove of the mediterranean sea. defined by a series of white rectilinear volumes, ramon esteve estudio de arquitectura has created a tectonic to frame the natural context. the massing is pulled apart to highlight both land and seascapes beyond. exterior walls are composed of solid planes and rhythmic verticals that add variety to the way the residents see the unbuilt surroundings. this motif continues inside the dwelling with sequenced spaces revealing themselves as one progresses through the structure.

the strong directionality is contrasted by perpendicular planes that cantilever at the porch. their heaviness imposes a phenomenal perimeter to the outdoor terrace, while the materiality continues at the ground plane, apparently extending the inhabitable space to the edge of the sea below with an infinity pool. the edifice is made mostly of local stone, creating a link to the landscape from which it emerges. wood and board formed concrete are also used in the design. the pattern of the cast elements complement the delicate fins found throughout the façade. the entire construction is unified with a monochromatic finish that blends the texturally rich palette.
