laucala island is a small, private oasis lying to the east of taveuni, fiji. just 5 km long, the island used to be owned until 2003 by the family of publishing magnate, malcolm forbes. its’ current owner, red bull co-founder dietrich mateschitz, contracted lynne hunt london and scape design associates to transform the island in fiji into his own exclusive resort. initially laucala was dietrich mateschitz’s personal private, retreat where celebrities could visit to escape the paparazzi, so all PR was banned – this being the first time the dream resort has surfaced the internet.
including 25 villas, every building on the the small secluded island has received a full interior overhaul: the plantation house restaurant, golf club, pool bar, spa, sea grass lounge and beach bar, all create an original, idyllic south pacific island experience.
