looking to maximize available space, design office SABO project has renovated the parisian apartment of a young fashion designer. located in the city’s historic montmartre district, the design consists of several partition removals, as well as the insertion of a multi-functional wall that serves as a stairway, display unit and sliding partition. the swaying steps of the alternating stair tread celebrate the region’s surrounding hills and the neighborhood’s climbing culture.

the porous nature of this piece of furniture allows natural light to reach a central corridor, as well as framing views between the new bedroom and the adjacent living room. in the kitchen, a mini vertical garden provides fresh aromatic herbs, while a steel counter-top with a custom integrated drainer is welded in place. the vibrant flooring is composed of a 25 natural rubber strips in 14 different colors.
