'tullhus bridge, norrkoping' by erik andersson architects
LED lit at sundown
located in norrköping, the tullhus bridge by swedish erik andersson architects takes pedestrians and cyclists
from strömsholmen to the north quay in the city centre. being part of the urban planning strategy of the city
since the 1950’s, the new construction of the overpass will now link the residential area around strömsholmen
to its downtown district.
painted in a silver metallic finish, the 72 meter long extension is constructed of steel and has an hourglass
shaped body - tapering towards its midpoint both in plan and section, reflecting against the motala ström.
a built-in hot-air system makes it possible to heat the walk-way and keep it clear from snow in the winter.
the handrails feature a built-in led lighting system, illuminating the walkway and guiding pedestrians and
cyclists over the newly-built bridge.
