studio leon thier, based in the netherlands, was chosen as the head architecture firm for construction of the ‘st. jan’ zuiderpark-stadswalzone project in the city of ‘s-hertogenbosch. the work included the design of a 1,040 car parking garage, park bridge, and pedestrian footpath, as well as supervision throughout the duration of the four year long effort.

the project was conceived not only as a functional space for city visitors and resident commuters, but as a branding lobby for the city itself. comfort and safety — for both drivers and pedestrians — was integrated into the garage, as well as the pedestrian bridge that passes over the city’s moat.
