as of this june, the fogo island inn by saunders architecture and the shorefast foundation has opened its doors to the public. privileged to be located on one of the most wondrous sites in the world, the contemporary 29-room hotel offers much more than unrivaled views over the rugged terrain. the ground level oriented along the  east-west axis contains a curated art gallery, dining room, bar, lounge, library. in the floors above you can enjoy the gym, meeting rooms, cinema, and rooftop saunas and hot tubs overlooking the atlantic. traditional craftsmanship has been renewed throughout the construction and detailing of the project. wood burning stoves in the private bedrooms recall a social vernacular within a a contemporary setting, offering visitors a more authentic experience to the island’s cultural history with all the comforts and luxuries of modern design.
