positioned along a prominent street in the japanese city of ogaki, ninkipen! has completed a pharmacy building constructed opposite the region’s general hospital. entitled ‘O dispensing pharmacy’, the project is intended to become an understated symbol of the town without the need for large signage or the loud use of color.

viewed from the passing road, the scheme’s single sloping roof will eventually be covered in grass – efficiently insulating the structure. internally, the warm use of timber provides customers with a comfortable, hospitable and relaxed environment, while apertures within the rood plane present pleasant views of the sky above. additional floor space is offered at the upper level, supported by a new truss and steel diagonal rods.
