dutch studio tjep has completely redesigned the dutch tax and customs museum in rotterdam. the new concept is based on bringing an interactive experience to the visitors by aiding them into the process of how taxes have been payed through time. all sections of the installation differs in width and height, where each exhibition visualizes how taxes are measured and how they vary from one another. starting at the top floor, the museum tour begins with ‘the tax ear’, where users can freely express their thoughts and feelings about everything concerning taxes. a clockwork model that represents the dutch tax system is showcased as one of the main center pieces, acting as a mechanical tax system. the building also features the ‘douane doe’ room, where children can play and learn about customs.
