conceived as a circular compass, the ‘miradorm’ by spanish studio tremillimetri is intended to not only function as an observation deck, but as an instrument of contemplation. suspended over the water and clinging to the side of a rock face, the structure offers a strategic position from which to see the city of punta llisera and out beyond to the island of benidorm in spain. the symbolic nature of the circle was important for the project as it represents perfection, integrity, unity, a geometry with no beginning or end – a single line, which comes together. strolling along the ramp, one may embark on this journey from the street, mayor manuel catalan chana where a path also follows on to the beach below. following cardinal points inserted into the pavement, the lookout’s orientation focuses on the surrounding landscape and sights of the city, while at night it becomes an ideal place to watch the stars and lights of punta llisera.
