UGO architecture sets twig bridge over bug valley in poland

the ‘twig bridge’ designed by UGO architecture is surrounded by the wild nature of the bug valley near niemirow in poland. integrating with this landscape, the form is based on fallen trees as a reference to boughs that lie on the other side of the river. seeking to compliment the natural setting, the structure is made of drawn metal sheets that are eventually punctuated by wild plants, gradually blending in to one another.

 

projecting outwards in an organic way, the elements of the bridge, such as its piers and observation decks become a series of offshoots along the crossing. there are five points of support from prefabricated steel spans that are set on reinforced concrete foundations firmly in the ground. the surface used for pedestrians and cyclists is covered with wood and the lighting is incorporated into outer and inner metal sheets with photo cells used for energy efficiency.
