japanese practice yaneura design has completed ‘hagoromo house’, a dwelling squeezed between bordering homes in a residential area of osaka. the scheme runs along the rear of an adjacent property, with only a slither of the structure visible from the passing street. constructed from lightweight timber, the three-storey design echoes the scale of surrounding buildings, unobtrusively occupying its suburban plot.

large apertures throughout the project offer generous views across the neighborhood, establishing a connection with the dwelling’s immediate environment. internally, the use of wood is continued with natural flooring and stairways fluidly connecting scheme. white walls reflect and maximize light entering the property, while chosen floors are glad with green carpet, bringing a sense of nature inside the home.
