while most people are busy sipping on their pumpkin spice lattes and tall tazo teas, seoul-based artist soo min kim sees the starbucks cup as a canvas. he has hand-painted and drawn a series of whimsical landscapes and quirky scenes directly onto the recognizable mermaid trademark, setting her within various humorous situations. from the beatles’ iconic abbey road album artwork to a daydreaming boy, the lady logo is transformed into a completely different character on each paper mug. white paint and a green marker are the humble materials min kim adopts for his artworks, smartly animating the ubiquitous coffee container. watch the artist in action, below.
