on september 12th, between 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m., residents of pasadena, california (and those in the area), will get to see bruce nauman’s artwork transforming the skies over pasadena with his project called ‘untitled (leave the land alone)’, 1969 / 2009 – the words  ‘leave the land alone’ will be written in the sky. he had planned a similar project in 1969, but it never came to fruition. it’s said that the best spots to view the work are at la loma bridge, colorado street bridge and brookside park. the performance is in conjunction with the exhibition at pasadena’s armory center for the arts, ‘installations inside / out’, which is his first solo institutional project in the L.A. area since 1994. nauman was honored with the golden lion award at this year’s 53rd venice art biennale.
