argentinian designer and artist cristian mohaded is set to present his first individual exhibition titled ’embryonic objects’ in praxis gallery, buenos aires. the artworks delve into a process of personal design and creation, intimately linked to the sensitivity of the materials and the relationship that emerges between them and their ‘maker’.

curated for architect martin zanotti, the embryonic objects by cristian mohaded shed light on another dimension of materiality. whether by means of anonymous or liquid pieces, the designs flow into the imagination of those who contemplate them — no longer perceiving them as objects but rather as physical manifestations. to elaborate, the artist explains it as follows: ‘embryo is that which constitutes the origin of a thing before it is created or constituted, or that is in its initial phase and still does not have the characteristics that will shape it definitively‘.

furthermore, the embryonic piece can be identified as an ‘anti-object’ that combats the concretization of something evading the real world and humans’ cultural habitat. in the words of architect kengo kuma, ‘no particular skill or effort is required to turn something into an object. preventing a thing from becoming an object is a far more difficult task.’ by taking the creative factor as the engine of any design process, forgetting pre-set goals is essential to explore the material on a wide terrain. or to put it in another way, by de-contextualizing the physical element and avoiding the problem-solving epidemic, one can be met with creative, productive and unstructured thinking.

the exhibition is expected to begin the 3rd of march 2017 at the praxis gallery of buenos aires city, in argentina.
