'grand-central' by thibault brevet
swiss artist thibault brevet has developed 'grand central' - an experimental social exploration through the combined mediums of
art and machine as part of his graduation project at the ECAL university of art and design in lausanne.
the work is a physical device that responds to a public online platform - a website where people are able to
contribute personalized messages and text at their own discretion. a specially programmed apparatus is then able to reproduce
this content through a plotting device that physically writes - with markers - on reams of paper left from newspaper offset printing.
the work gathers and broadcasts the collective dialogue of an audience - from thoughts and wishes to music lyrics and poems -
the work captures the colorful and diverse social spectrum of contemporary culture.
