british firm architects of air are showing one of their monumental walk-in pneumatic sculptures 'mirazoz' as part of of lille3000's fantastic 2012
festival in france until the 13th of january, 2013. the polychromatic inflated structure is inspired by the pure forms of geometry and nature,
islamic architecture and modern architectural innovators such as buckminster fuller and frei otto - inviting visitors into an immersive experience of light,
colour, sound and also performance.

the distinctly organic space is composed of specially engineered PVC plastic, tailored to create a weave of winding paths and meandering tunnels.
the luminarium is made up of around 20 elements that are zipped together on site to occupy an area of approximately 1000 square metres,
with the material - made up of only four colors - transmitting daylight through its surface to create a vibrantly luminous space.
visitors are welcomed into a labyrinthine of chambers and yawning domes, encouraged to move through the vivid reflections of liquid colour
spilling across the undulating walls, and into another universe.

  • buckminster fuller and frei otto ?

how about their own countrymen like Archigram or Roger Dean, or early Coop Himmelblau or Antfarm? There was a lot of this sort of thing going on during the late 60s / early 70s

    Paedra says:
  • Brilliant. Love this space…it visited St Kilda a couple years ago and so did the crowds of people unfortunately. I took some great 3D photos in there. I want my own private inflatable, take anywhere, holiday house. No need for furniture, it’s all built in [yes, I'm selfish].
